To recall the atmosphere of last year’s festival concerts included on the Spontaneous Live Series 014 and 015, let’s reach for the report from the event, which – as usual simultaneously – was published a year ago on Jazzarium.pl and Trybuna Muzyki Spontanicznej. […]
(…) The festival finale usually falls to exceptional artists, but in the context of the seven previous sets of this year’s edition, such a description would certainly be unfair. And yet Der Dritte Stand, i.e. Matthias Müller on trombone, Matthias Bauer on double bass and Rudi Fischerlehner on drums
completely demolished us. A fluid, almost forty-minute exposition, in which every sound was dramaturgically justified, but no phrase was overblown, sparkled with the power of the trombone dynamics and sonic subtleties, beautiful, expressive phrases of double bassist in arco and pizzicato and the whole picture was complemented by expressive drumming. The latter flowed with a rarely encountered freedom, almost animal naturalness, but also the ability to designate a stop, to build space for a moment of reflection and inspiration for the partners (…).
